What is "Personalization"?
In short, Personalization, Andrea says, is "... a cool way to get customers to add more to their shopping cart." Using a site submitted by a Member volunteer, Dennis van der Heijden and Andrea Warner demonstrate how to, according to Leslie, "make site visits more meaningful for the user." [click to continue…]

You wouldn't drive without side and rearview mirrors, wouldya? Dan Thies doesn't either, and certainly not when the Web is his freeway.
So roll with "Dan, the Man" as your Guide for Google Shopping. He's lookin' back at 2011 while moving forward into 2012. Andrea Warner is ridin' shotgun.
After a mini-rant about JavaScript tech difficulties and how "Goto Meeting webinar is the worst thing in the history of worst things", he goes over some must-know observations about Google Shopping.

Whether we live on the North Pole, in New Hampshire or New Zealand, we are subject to some kind of law. And "ignorance of the law is no excuse" whenever someone suffers the consequences of violating laws. In the IM space, Advertising Law could be a wide-open space or a tightrope without a safety net.

The Panda algorithm is all about content. It's easy to get and/or feel overwhelmed by the demand for content and to keep content fresh. On top of that, how do you uncover and treat that whole duplicate content issue that Dan and Leslie have been screaming about for years?

Pete Williams has 11 steps to his Content Leverage System. Surely there is at least one (1) the experienced marketer can use -- more for those with more to learn, and plenty of space for anyone who has room to grow.
Dan, Leslie, Andrea -- and Pete -- realize that Google's Panda is all about content. Your business is all about profit. If the shortest distance between two points is still a straight line, to increase your profits, you've got to grow your content. But do you -- really? More importantly, can you? Title: I'm Feeling Lucky: The Confessions Of Google Employee #59
Author/Narrator: Douglas Edwards
"I'm Feeling Lucky" is about the pre-IPO days of Google from the viewpoint of the 59th employee hired, Douglas Edwards.
I listened to this book from Audible.com instead of reading it (I have time to listen, but not much time to read). Doug himself narrates his story, which enhances the experience because you can really feel his emotion and the sarcastic wit behind his words.
Doug comes from a corporate newspaper background, and struggles to adjust and keep up with the fast-moving Silicon Valley startup that is Google in its infancy.
